Background: Having come from 15 years of highly competitive dinghy sailing and windsurfing I needed to find a new buzz so took up mtb racing in 2000 in the Novice category. Most of the races saw me struggling to finish in the top half but my technical skills were good. Soon the speed came so I moved to Masters and really enjoyed the tougher competition and camaraderie. For 2005 I've upped the challenge to SuperMasters in the Gorrick and Southern XC races competing against all those ex-elites! The Enduro bug took hold after competing solo in Dusk til Dawn in 2002 and I realised that I wasn't half bad at it, either that or I'm clinically insane!
